Founder & Managing Partner
Building the new operating system for Indian businesses at the intersection of DPDPA, AI, technology, and commercial strategy, grounded in hands-on litigation and arbitration experience.
Overview
For 21+ years, I have navigated the complexities of Indian regulatory frameworks from the trenches of GST/tax litigation to the boardrooms of domestic & international arbitration. But today, the battlefield has shifted. Data is no longer just an asset but it is a legal liability.
As the Founder & Managing Partner of AMLEGALS, with pan India 10 offices, and the architect of the Vibe Data Privacy™ framework, I help Significant Data Fiduciaries (SDF), MNCs, and Tech Giants navigate the complex intersection of DPDPA, GDPR, and AI Governance.
My focus is singular:
- 1️⃣De-risking Data Architecture: Turning compliance into a competitive advantage with Data Privacy & AI.
- 2️⃣Product Consultancy: Making blend of Design thinking and TCL framework to move beyond paperwork to practical, tech-integrated solutions and productivity.
- 3️⃣Boardroom Protection: Shielding leadership from personal and corporate liability.
And ultimately making strategic legal decisions work for them.

Practice Areas
DPDPA & Data Privacy
As the architect of the Vibe Data Privacy™ framework, Mr. Misshra has positioned AMLEGALS at the vanguard of data protection practice in India. His work under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 spans comprehensive consent architecture design, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Purpose Registers, and the establishment of compliant data processing agreements for Significant Data Fiduciaries (SDFs).
He advises multinational corporations, tech giants, and enterprises on cross-border data transfer mechanisms, reconciling the requirements of the DPDPA with GDPR, CCPA, and sector-specific regulations. His practice addresses the practical challenges of implementing purpose limitation, data minimisation, consent management platforms, and the rights of data principals in complex enterprise environments.
Mr. Misshra's approach moves beyond mere compliance to creating competitive advantage through robust data governance. He helps organisations build evidence-based privacy programs that demonstrate accountability to regulators while enabling business innovation. His Vibe Data Privacy™ methodology integrates orchestration tools, privacy-by-design principles, and ongoing monitoring frameworks.
Through the dedicated platform amlegalsdpdpa.com and his weekly Data Privacy Next newsletter reaching over 7,000 subscribers, Mr. Misshra has democratised access to data privacy expertise, providing actionable guidance to organisations navigating this rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
GST & Indirect Taxation
Mr. Misshra has been at the forefront of GST practice since the regime's inception in 2017, having navigated the complexities of indirect taxation from the trenches of litigation to strategic boardroom advisory. He advises on classification disputes, input tax credit optimisation, transitional credit issues, and the structuring of transactions to achieve tax efficiency within the bounds of the statute.
His contentious practice includes representations before GST Appellate Authorities, Advance Ruling Authorities, and High Courts across India. He has successfully argued matters involving anti-profiteering provisions, place of supply determinations, E-way bill compliance, reverse charge mechanisms, and the interplay between GST and other fiscal statutes including customs duty and income tax.
Mr. Misshra's GST practice extends to advising on complex supply chain structures, export-import taxation, SEZ transactions, and the implications of GST on digital economy businesses including SaaS, e-commerce, and platform businesses. He brings a commercial lens to tax planning, ensuring structures are both legally defensible and operationally practical.
Beyond advisory work, Mr. Misshra contributes to GST policy discourse through industry associations and his writings on the evolving jurisprudence. His media commentary on Union Budget provisions, significant tribunal decisions, and his appearances on ABP News and DD News for post-budget analysis reflect his standing as a thought leader in this domain.
AI Law & Governance
Mr. Misshra's AI practice addresses the legal questions that arise when algorithms intersect with accountability. Currently pursuing an AI Certification Course from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he brings cutting-edge technical understanding to legal advisory on AI procurement contracts, liability allocation for autonomous systems, and the intellectual property implications of machine learning models trained on proprietary data.
His participation in MeitY's closed-door discussions on India's AI governance framework reflects his role in shaping national policy. He brings comparative perspective from the EU AI Act, advising clients on risk classification, conformity assessment, algorithmic transparency requirements, and the documentation obligations that apply to high-risk AI systems deployed in regulated sectors.
Mr. Misshra advises enterprises on responsible AI deployment, including bias auditing, explainability requirements, human oversight mechanisms, and the governance frameworks necessary for AI systems that make or assist in consequential decisions. His practice encompasses AI in judicial proceedings, automated decision-making in employment contexts, and AI-driven customer interactions.
Through amlegalsai.com, Mr. Misshra provides thought leadership on algorithmic accountability, the copyright status of AI-generated works, AI training data licensing, and the emerging jurisprudence around AI. His practice recognises that AI governance is not merely a compliance exercise but a matter of digital sovereignty and competitive positioning for Indian businesses.
Arbitration
With 21+ years of litigation and arbitration experience, Mr. Misshra brings deep institutional knowledge to complex dispute resolution. His practice encompasses ICC arbitrations, SIAC proceedings, ad-hoc arbitrations under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, emergency arbitrator applications, and domestic institutional arbitrations.
He has acted as counsel in disputes spanning infrastructure projects, technology licensing, joint venture dissolutions, construction claims, shareholder disputes, and commercial contract breaches. His approach emphasizes early case assessment, strategic witness preparation, document management, and the crafting of arbitration clauses that anticipate future contingencies.
Mr. Misshra regularly advises on the enforcement and setting aside of arbitral awards, navigating the intersection of public policy considerations and party autonomy that defines contemporary arbitration jurisprudence in India. He has represented clients in Section 34 and Section 37 proceedings before various High Courts.
His arbitration practice extends to investment treaty arbitrations, cross-border enforcement under the New York Convention, and the selection and challenge of arbitrators. He brings commercial pragmatism to dispute resolution, often achieving settlements through strategic positioning before or during arbitral proceedings.
M&A & Contracts
Mr. Misshra advises on the full spectrum of M&A transactions, from initial due diligence through post-closing integration. His experience includes share purchase agreements, asset acquisitions, slump sales, management buyouts, and cross-border reorganisations involving multiple jurisdictions. He has particular expertise in technology sector transactions and data-intensive business acquisitions.
In contract architecture, he applies the TCL Framework—integrating Technical, Commercial, and Legal perspectives—to ensure agreements address not merely legal compliance but technical feasibility and commercial viability. This multidisciplinary lens proves particularly valuable in technology transactions, SaaS agreements, licensing arrangements, and complex supply chain contracts.
His practice encompasses joint ventures, shareholders agreements, founders' agreements for startups, private equity transactions, and corporate restructurings under the Companies Act, 2013 and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. He has particular expertise in distressed asset transactions, resolution plan formulation, and corporate demergers.
Mr. Misshra brings a product counsel mindset to contract work, moving beyond paperwork to practical, tech-integrated solutions that drive productivity and reduce friction in business operations. His design thinking approach ensures contracts serve as enablers of business relationships rather than mere risk allocation documents.
